Adopting a dog is a serious commitment.

And one of the ways to do that is by picking a dependable dog rescue.

The recommendations you’ll see below are based on my thorough research in Google Maps.

I myself heavily use it and rely on it for truthful opinions from Local Guides

13 best dog rescues in Quebec

#1: Montreal SPCA

First, I recommend Montreal SPCA. This is my top choice based on…

Rating: 4.4

Reviews: 2,706

Website: https://www.spca.com/en/

Address: 5215 Rue Jean-Talon O, Montréal, QC H4P 1X4, Canada

Phone: 514-735-2711

Opening hours:

  • Sunday-Thursday: 7 AM – 6 PM
  • Friday: 7 AM – 6 PM

Making a donation by phone: 1-866-366-7722

Reporting animal abuse: 514-735-2711, extension 2230 or enquetes@spca.com

Services

Also, consider that due to limited staff available, the following services of the rescue are affected:

Adoption

Before adopting, bear in mind that you have to make an appointment and fill in a protocol.

Fostering

Montreal SPCA prioritizes requests from experienced staff, volunteers, and fosters. This is to ensure as many animals as possible find a foster home in a short time.

Note: Despite that, the Montreal SPCA is always on the lookout for foster families that match a certain profile.

Here are the requirements:

  • Living in a house.
  • Without any young children.
  • Having experience with dogs.

If you’re eager to become a foster and meet the abovementioned, you can fill in this form

Microchipping

No microchipping appointment requests are available at this time. The reason is that the Montreal SPCA prioritizes the most urgent cases. So they want to limit the number of visitors.

Leaving your own animal or a found one there

Before you attempt to bring your own animal or a one found on the street, you should call. Schedule an appointment.

Note: Only emergency cases will be accepted.

TNRM (Trap Neuter Release Manage) Program

The Montreal SPCA Boutique offers present ideas for canines, felines, other small animals, and pet parents alike.

However, it’s currently closed.

Emergency cases: lost, found, or injured animals

For this, you need to make a prior appointment. And keep in mind that the Montreal SPCA accepts only urgent cases.

This is a non-profit dog rescue that aims at finding homes for dogs in a timely manner. The aim is to save as many dogs as possible.

The rescue is strongly against euthanasia. The founder and the people who work there believe that no dog’s life should be sacrificed because they have no home.
